Committee Reports
Dynamite Shoot : Ed Brady reports that there were 18 to 20 shooters and that $160.00 was turned into the club treasurer.
Lee Boren wants a letter thanking him for the dynamite for tax purposes.
High Power: Jeff Howard reports that there were five shooters and that $15.00 was turned over to the club treasurer.
Schutzen: Mrs Weber reports that there were six shooters and the the treasury of the OMGC was enriched by $23.00.
Un-Finished Business
Pat Weber as treasurer tried to purchase a gift certificate at Texas Roadhouse using an OMGC check. She was unable to do this because of the eateries established policy of not taking checks from its patrons. So in order to fulfill the motion to award Bill Skoggins a dinner, for the work he did with his earth moving equipment, Pat Weber put the gift certificate on her credit card. She would like to have her credit card bill paid by the club, but our operating capitol is standing with a total lack of funds.
Tom Matthews: Reports that there is an agreement with the land developer who wishes to build homes on the acreage north of the OMGC range. Tom stated that he will make full disclosure of the agreement at the August meeting. Lee Boren stated that we have gotten what we wanted and need to meet safety standards. The Mesa County Planning Commission must still approve this whole deal.
New Business
Tom Matthews made an abbreviated report about the dealings with the landowner north of the OMGC range. Tom stated that we (in accordance with the agreement made) will have to purchase the land that will comprise the “safety-zone” This purchase will be made at the same cost that the current owner paid for this land when he purchased it. Also the agreement will entail the returning of the “right of reversion clause” that is attached to our deed for the 18-acres that we use for our main range. Due to these facts it will be necessary for the club to raise its dues in order to have enough money to pay for the proposed safety zone. In that Tom suggested that member dues be increased to $50.00 and that associate members dues be increased to $25.00. Tom suggested that half of the increase be earmarked for land acquisition, the balance will be used for the incurred costs of taxes, insurance and maintenance of our facility. Once again Tom stated that he would be making full disclosure at the August membership meeting.
Lee Boren made the following motion:
Orchard Mesa Gun Club Shall increase its membership dues at the following rate. Regular membership will be elevated by $20.00, and associate membership be elevated by $10.00. These increases are to be made effective on August 1 st 2006.
Al Chicon seconded this motion.
There was much discussion of the dues increase. One item that should be recorded here is that Russ Weber wanted to see the dues increase effectively immediately. It was pointed out that renewal notices had been sent to the members whose membership will expire at the end of July, and that it would be unfair to increase the dues on notices already sent.
Motion passed by a show of hands with only one or two members present voting against the motion.
Tom Matthews asked if the present members would like to take up a collection to pay Pat Weber’s credit card. The cash flowed with enough to pay the debt and to add some to the operating fund.
Adjournment
Dave Dunsmoor made a motion to adjourn this month’s membership meeting
Lee Boren seconded that motion
There being no objections Irv Deines adjourned this meeting at 8:29 PM
Respectfully submitted
M. Dean Blanck
Secretary 2006
