ORCHARD MESA GUN CLUB MEMBERS MEETING
July 17, 2018
CALL TO ORDER: The Meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by the President, Eric Kjeldgaard. There were 11 members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.
MINUTES: The Minutes of the June, 2018 Members Meeting were read by the Secretary and approved as read.
TREASURERS REPORT: The Treasurers Report was given by the Treasurer. It was moved, seconded and passed to accept the Report. A copy of the Report is attached to and made a part of these Minutes.
CORESPONDENCE: None.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: The Hunter Bench Rest Match had 3 shooters and $9.00 was turned in. The High Power Match had 6 shooters and $18.00 was turned in. There were 27 participants at the June 2, 2018 4H Invitational. There were 36 shooters using the Range at the 2018 Mesa County 4H Fair. The 4H shooters are interested in the Club building an archery range.
OLD BUSINESS: The new perimeter signs for our property have arrived along with the gromets and the tool for them. The Club has received a bid for a new Range Signs from a company outside Colorado. Prices are as follows:
4’X4’ $311-$429 each 2 signs $275-$384 each
4’X5’ $400-$518 each 2 signs $372-$418 each
4’X6’ $426-$614 each 2 signs $386-$574 each
Following discussion, it was decided to table this matter and look for a local company as a possible vender and to possibly refurbish our existing sign at the old entrance to the Range.
NEW BUSINESS: There was general discussion on the fire danger on the Range due to the hot dry weather. In the event the County proclaims a Level 3 Fire Danger the Range must be closed to shooting. The area in front of the North Range covered firing line has tremendous growth of weeds blocking some shooting benches completely. Jeff Howard will try to cut down or mow these weeds, and next Spring we will need to spray this area to prevent weed growth. 2019 will be the 70th Anniversary of the Club. Eric Kjeldgaard proposed a commemorative screw driver with the Club’s Anniversary for each new and renewing member. They could also be sold to members as a fund-raising effort. Following discussion, it was moved, seconded and passed to pursue this further. There was discussion about replacing the current badges with a clip on one that could be updated each year.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the members the Meeting was adjourned at 8:44PM by the President.
Respectfully submitted,
Jeff Howard, Secretary
